I’ve been using Bvckup beta for well over a year now and it’s about time it received some recognition for reliably sorting out my backups without ever getting in the way. I mean, what more could you want from a backup utility? That it is fast maybe? Check. Perhaps that it is minimal and easy to set up? Check. Maybe that it does not use a proprietary file format for backups? Yep, got that too.

Bvckup differs from other backup applications, It makes sure that whichever folder you choose to back up is always exactly duplicated to the folder that you are backing up to. Ok, no big deal you say. Well what about if we throw in a Delta copying algorithm that makes backups super fast? And how about real-time folder monitoring, scheduled backups and manual backups all in one app?

Read on to find out more about this cool little application. (more…)

I loved creating collages when I was a kid. I tried making one now and apparently I’m not very good at them now and physically ruined the original photos whilst making a collage. Shucks! In this digital age, making a real collage is time consuming and how would you brag about them to your friends? This is where Phototastic comes in handy.

Unlike other photography related apps, Phototastic focuses mainly on making impressive collages rather than addinging effects on the images. Well, you can do that too as there are innumerable options in this app. Let’s take a look!

Books have changed a great deal in recent years. While physical books are just about as popular as ever, there is an ever-growing electronic book market; this encompasses not only what is traditionally thought of as an ebook (think Nook, Kindle et al), but also audio books.

In the audio book arena, there are not many tools vying for attention – it’s Audible all the way. While there has been an aps available for mobile devices for some time, the Windows 8 Audible app took a little while to see the light of day. Now it’s here, but is it any good?

Saving the world one tree at a time. In an age where, more than ever, mankind is on alert and educated about environmental issues, this could be the ideal motto of any environmental NGO, or the slogan of a campaign aiming to stop the deforestation in Amazon’s rainforest. But it isn’t.

In fact, that is the motto of iPrint, a free app for Windows developed by Inzone Software. It is designed to give you an improved and more intuitive control over the printing process, which many printers, specially the older ones, do not allow. If you want to reduce your paper and ink consumption, both saving the planet and a few extra bucks, iPrint is just the app to have.

The ability to remember user names and passwords, and even fill out online forms, is not new. In fact, it has been built into web browsers for sometime now. However, thanks to notoriously bad implementation by Firefox, which makes all of the data easy to view via the Settings, and people tending to use the same passwords over and over on multiple sites, many have become easy targets for hackers.

One easy and free way of solving this issue is to use a password management tool and there are several fine ones on the market, although not all of them are actually free. My favorite, and one that has been recommended by several security experts, is called LastPass.

There is also a “Premium” version of the software available which costs $1 per month. This allows customers to use the program on mobile devices — and it works with pretty much EVERY mobile operating system and browser that you could possibly think of, from mainstream to obscure to dead ones like Windows Mobile. It is also ad-free.

Project management tools are ten-a-penny for iOS and Android, but they are somewhat thinner on the ground for Windows users. Task Manager Professional is one of a growing number of apps that brings to-do list and project management to Windows 8.

If you’re looking for a way to keep on top of a DIY or business project, want to keep on top of things you have to do on a day to day basis in the home, could this be the tool that helps you to stay organized?

The internet is so vast is can be difficult to know quite where to begin when you go online looking for entertainment. Hit Facebook, Twitter or other social networks and you’ll find links to hilarious pictures, ridiculous stories and news.

But where do people posting these links find these sites? There’s a chance that they have used StumbleUpon, and the new Windows 8 app enables you to discover best the internet has to offer as well.

YouTube is a fantastic resource for discovering all sorts of videos. From funny cats clips and product reviews to live broadcasts and tutorials, practically anything you could ever want to watch is available free of charge at the click of a mouse.

While Android and iOS devices have dedicated apps available, PC users are generally limited to browsing for content in a web browser. If you’d like to avoid the extra distractions – and you’re using Windows 8 – you can turn to Your Tube 8 to focus your YouTube experience.

Just last weekend, I was bullied into baby sitting my neice and you should know, like lots of people my age, I am not really child-friendly. I had no idea what to do or how to entertain her and it was pretty embarrassing, for a while.

That was when I remember what I liked back when I was a child: cartoons! I had to find an amazing app just for the kids and my search ended in Kids TV, an containing a whole deal of cartoons and games. The moment I opened the app and showed it to her, she went crazy and was hooked on it all evening. This sure was a life saver. Any app which keeps the kids silent definitely requires a review and here I am!

Managing your money can be a hard task. Whether it is buying a coffee in town or paying your electricity bill, everything will come out of your account and sometimes you don’t know where the money has gone. With the introduction of internet banking this is easier but it’s still often hard to really remember why an unknown £25 has magically disappeared. Tracking all this in a secure place is necessary for keeping on top of your money and with your Windows Phone this isn’t a difficult task.

My Budget is a £0.79 application which lets you manage expenses, bills and much more in an easy to read format. Being on your phone, the device you take everywhere, this app fits perfectly into anyone’s daily life and can prove beneficial.
