Windows Phone Elite: Finance Management Apps

Managing your money can be a time consuming task which can easily flummox even the best of us. To make this process less difficult you can leverage the gift of technology to help you in your everyday life. And they do say “there’s an app for everything!”

In this roundup I’m going to summarize my 12 favorite apps available on your Windows Phone!

Balance

Ledgers can be a great way to be on top of your money. They allow you to keep track of things you still need to pay for and things you’ve already paid for making it easier to plan for the future with your payments. Balance is an app which allows you to create quick and simple ledgers which perform this task admirably. These can be then emailed or text to someone of your choice so they can view them too. A great little organizer.

Interest Calculator

Interest can be a hard value to work out and if you’re doing it all in your head it will soon turn into a frustrating and painful task. Interest Calculator is a $0.99 app which requires hardly any effort at all. The app comes with functions to working out capital and future values of your savings. Input, how much money you need to invest to get to that capital value and the duration and the app will work out how long it will take to save that amount. A fantastic app for under $1.

Find My ATM

Finding an ATM can be a difficult task. When you actually need one there seems to be none around – which is annoying. Find My ATM, as the name suggests, finds local ATMs and gives you directions towards the destination. I looked through many “ATM finding” apps, hoping for one that would work all around the world; with no luck. So, this specific one only works in the US, but I’m sure you’ll be able to find one suited towards your country. It’s the concept which really matters.

My Budget

My Budget is one of the most desirable apps for finance in the Marketplace. it comes with the widest variety of functions and, in my opinion, the best user experience. My Budget really allows you to do almost everything you would ever need: from scheduling bills all the way to viewing charts of expenditure this app tries to cover every basic need. And for $0.99 this is a steal for an app which can do you the world of good. My Budget also comes in a free version for those of us who don’t want to fork out instantly.

BillMinder

Bill Minder is a basic app which has a sole concept of placing all your bills into one manageable place. The thing I love about Bill Minder is that it has a range of extra features. These include syncing to your iOS devices and saving everything in the cloud. The reason I’ve used this so much is because of notifications which give me instant reminders when something is due, even without an internet connection!

Home Affordability

Buying a new house can be a challenging task. And for those of us who want to keep on top of our payments and actually work out what kind of a house we can afford, it’s even harder. Home Affordability allows you to input all of your details such as: net income, credit cards and savings. Then will instantly give you an amount that you should be spending on your new house. A great app for stopping unpredicted surprises.

Shopping List

When you’re trying to save money you try to look everywhere for places to save. Personally, I always look towards food shopping, this is a regular payment which you can control. Shopping List allows you list everything you need, when it needs to be bought and who needs to buy it (which can be sent by SMS.) Using this can stop you from purchasing unnecessary items and therefore saving you money in the long run!

Track my Fuel

Fuel is expensive, there’s no hiding that. Just from my experience in Britain, this can be a payment which can quickly mount up to a huge sum. Tracking how much you’re using at certain times can be key in saving money. Track My Fuel makes you input values every time you fill up, including your current odometer value, gallons used and price per gallon (as well as inputting your car details.) Then by the time you fill up again the app will give you detailed statistics about how much fuel you’re using. A great way to save on an expensive commodity.

Expensify

Expensify is another popular finance app which has had massive success worldwide. The app shows you an e-receipt of all your purchases by connecting with your cards. It also comes with a scanner, which is for cash purchases. This allows you to scan the receipt which will then link to your account again. The app will also send you a PDF document of everything that’s happened to your account over a certain period of time, giving you a simple and clear way to view these stats.

Pageonce – Money and Bills

Pageonce is another app which is similar to Expensify. However, it does have a unique feature which is very desirable: security. Security is your main worry when putting your bank details into an app, frightening even the best of us. However, Pageonce is probably one of the most secure apps around. It protects your data with bank-level security. This is done by working with organizations such as McAfee and Verisign, which will regularly check Pageonce’s security measures and see if they’re up to scratch. A safe, and very helpful app!

Financial Calculators

Calculators are great. They save your mind from tirelessly amounts of maths. However, this app is probably the most efficient and capable one I’ve ever found. With eleven different calculators, keeping track of values has never been easier. The fact that they’re all so easy to use is fantastic, and on top of that it’s free. What more could you ask for?

Budget Buddy

Budget Buddy is built with a function to scan: bills, receipts or virtually anything which is available when making a purchase. After scanning, the app will track your spending and manage for the future. By setting a monthly budget the app will stop you from spending more than you’ve designated in a month. Budget Buddy will also make charts to help you view these clearer.
