In this roundup, I am going to share with you the latest and future releases for the next few months. This is an exciting time in the gaming year, as big sequels such as Diablo 3 have hit the shelfs over the last couple of weeks.
I will briefly explain some of the most interesting releases from different genres, encompassing everything from third person shooters to sports, to keep you captivated for the forthcoming future. Read on to find out more!
Diablo III is a PC exclusive, action role-playing game released on the 15th May around the world. This game has raised massive interest before the initial release becoming the most pre-ordered game on Amazon. Similar to common MMOs you travel through a quest based system defeating enemies as you go!
However, Diablo is not without its problems. Many players are complaining about the high specs needed for playing. Players across the world have been surprised by these hyped up graphics. This will improve the general game play and graphics, but may put players off. Other problems which hinder the game are frequent server crashes and players being refused entry into the game, although I think Blizzard will surely fix these in time.
If you are into role-playing games, but not interested in the big MMOs, Diablo III is a worthwhile investment. This is a very good MMO which will keep you entertained for hours, though it may have problems these will certainly be rectified in the future. Being one of the biggest releases this year, it’s not likely to let you down.

Max Payne 3 is the third installment in this franchise and the first of the series to be developed by Rockstar Games. You play as Max Payne, a New York City police officer, fighting off criminals and enemies. In my opinion, third person shooters bring an interesting variation to the number of games released every year.
Even though the game was announced in 2009, its been postponed for the last few years. This “over-the-shoulder” game definitely brings a new twist to the average shooter. I’m sure it’s going to be a massive hit and a phenomenal success.
Requires: PS3,Xbox 360, PC

Based on the hit TV show, developed by Cyanide, comes Game of Thrones. Released on the 15th May, this game will appeal to fans of the show, with many features similar to the HBO series. Throughout the game you follow the story of Mors Westford and Alester Sarwyck, a priest and hunter who become involved in the tires of conflict.
Keen followers of the show and just anyone who enjoys role-playing games will love this adventure. Game of Thrones has a good plot, but lacks in other departments such as combat and graphics. If you are looking for a top class game, Game of Thrones probably isn’t for you.

Lego Batman 2 is the second release based on the DC Comics. As well as playing Batman you have the ability to play other incredible heroes such as Superman and Wonder Woman. The riveting plot is centered around Batman and Robin joining the Justice League to fight off the Joker and Lex Luthor.
Released on June 1st in America and 27th June in Europe by Traveller’s Tales, this is sure be a fun experience for all. With massive improvements from the first Lego Batman, a wealth of enjoyment and a clever layout, this game will keep you entertained for hours.

The Amazing Spiderman is the new game based on the upcoming film. This game is set in a free roaming world and gives you the ability to choose the way you play. Having an element of freedom has always been a key feature of the Spiderman games and personally, I love it. Swinging from building to building creates a world which makes you feel you are part of the experience.
Released at the end of June, this game will surely promote the film. I love some of the key features they have kept from the original game. If you’re looking for an elegant superhero game which is realistic and fun, The Amazing Spiderman is the way to go this year. I’m definitely going to pick this one up!
Price: $39.99-$59.96($39.99 for PC Version)
Requires: Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, PC, PS3, Xbox 360
With the Olympic games this year, SEGA aims to profit off this huge event with London 2012, the video game. Being released at the end of June you have the ability to play at least 30 events, from the brick and mortar track events to weightlifting and beach volleyball.
Playing a massive selection of sports and countries, this game has enough variety to keep you entertained all summer long. This is the second game specifically released for the Olympics, as well as Mario and Sonic, giving the game some competition. Although, I do feel some players will prefer playing a human to a cartoon. This will be the deciding factor.
Requires: PC, P3, Xbox 360
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Solider, is the third release in the series, coming to shops at the end of May. Ghost Recon is set in a futuristic world, the main story consisting of tracking down the source of a bomb which has devastated a Ghost Team.
Similar to Max Payne, this game is a third-person shooter game. These games will have heavy competition this year because of their overlapping features and game style. In my opinion, this is the stronger of the two games bringing better overall graphics and fluency.

Requires: PS3, Xbox 360, PC
Prototype 2 released at the end of last month is the highly awaited sequel to the 2009 game. Set in an open world you play as James Heller as he travels through a quest to destroy the Blacklight virus. James’ special ability is that he can shapeshift consuming other people’s identities. This ability is not used in many games, and brings an element of secrecy to the experience.
This game has already been received well, picking up many awards. If you’re looking for a game which is a different to the norm and exciting, Prototype is for you. I see no boring flaws in the game, it is well structured and has lots to offer.

Street Fighter X Tekken is the new hand-to-hand combat release by Capcom. Released earlier this month for PCs, this game has undersold its developers previous expectations only managing to sell 1.4 million units (expected 2 million).
However, this game has received high ratings from some of the high end gaming sites. IGN quoted “a fantastic game that nailed the basic fighting mechanics while daring to take few risks”
Personally, I love this game, working through the storyline as multiple characters. Primarily this game lacked in sales, because of the time of its release. I don’t think you should overlook this game, its a worthy fighting game which is well designed. Ultimately, I think this is the best of its genre all year.
Requires: PS3, PS Vita, Xbox 360, PC
TERA is a new MMORPG, developed by Bluehole Studios. Containing the main structure of the average MMO, I don’t think TERA has much to offer compared to previous attempts. The only unique feature is the third person camera view for fighting.
However, this game does have a deep storyline, a wealth of characters and the progression is good throughout. In retrospect this game will be heavily overlooked by the majority of players, who are currently looking forward to Guild Wars 2 or playing some of the bigger MMO’s. TERA is huge success across Asia, but unfortunately I don’t think this will expand to other parts of the globe.

Sniper Elite V2 is a new shooter video game developed by Rebellion Developments, released earlier this month. The game is set in the last few days of the Battle of Berlin, near the end of WW2. Your mission is to eliminate scientists carrying out the German V-2 rocket program. The game primarily revolves around stealth and not using random gunning to complete your task.
The game is a remake of the original 2005 game Sniper Elite with many similar features. If you’re looking for a tactical game, which requires skill, Sniper Elite V2 is a great game for you. With an interesting storyline and well designed gameplay, this game is on my list!
Price: $37.99-$49.99 ($37.99 for PC Version)
Requires: PS3, Xbox 360, PC (also available on Steam)
