7stacks: Organise Your Folders Easier!

Everyone’s folders are cramped full to the brim and often finding files can be a major struggle. Recently though, I found a developer which had decided he needed a change. So, he decided to design a program called 7stacks.This app makes your folders easier to view and more aesthetically pleasing.

Don’t be swayed straight away though! 7stacks is available for Vista and XP too. Read on to find out more!

Windows 7 seemed to have one glaring omission of OSX: stacks. Now, with 7stacks, you get almost the same functionality as the OS X stacks, but with a more “Windows 7″ appearance.

An Introduction

Basically, 7stacks allows you to customise the way you view certain folders. By placing these into a stack it makes the whole viewing experience simpler. It does this by saving the effort of clicking through a number of different files before reaching your certain target – getting to your destination much quicker.

Main Website For 7stacks

7stacks is also a free service – which is great. Although, if you feel the need and want to give something back to the developers he encourages donations – but, only if you would like to. I love the amount of free apps available for Windows, many of them allow you to play around with the interface and make it more interesting than ever before. This is one reason why I feel Windows is so good. This app is one of them and I think it’s brilliant. This solves a simple niggle that some users may have and improves their computing experience.

Making And Customising Your Stack!

The amount of customisation is superb with this creator. When I first saw 7stacks I expected there to be one generic design and that was it – wasn’t I wrong though! Below you can see the interface for the creator!

The Interface For The Stack Creator

As you can see the design looks simple and easy to use. The design isn’t overly complicated meaning that it doesn’t confuse the user. Personally, if an app confuses me within the first few tries I’ll just uninstall straightaway. It gives you a few different options and I’ll try to explain how it works below!

Step 1: Select your specific file which you would like to expand. You do this by searching through your computer for the one your looking for.

Step 2: Type a caption. This will appear at the bottom of the stack, just to remind you and jog your memory.

Step 3: Pick an icon! You can choose anything for this so be creative. No one wants to just view the basic “My Documents” icon.

Step 4: Select the type of stack you would like. The choices are: Vertical Stack, Vertical Stack (no text), Grid, Grid (no text) and Menu.

Different Types Of Stack!

Step 5: Customise your icon size and font size. These are really just personal preference, depending on whether you like small and neat or big and bold.

Step 6: Click certain boxes depending on what you want. You can play around with these and see what you like and don’t like.

Step 7: You can also click the “Preferences” button which looks like a spanner and screw. Clicking this gives you another group of options. Such as changing the appearance and the behavior of stack.

Step 8: Hit Create. And that’s it. You’ve fully customised your new stack. I would have a play around with everything before you settle on a final design. This is because of the amount of options, you’ll definitely find a version you like.

After following all of these you should have a new desktop icon. And this will be behave similar to a Mac folder design.

Why You Should Use 7stacks?

For some of us 7stacks may not be the most desirable program in the world. You’re probably asking yourself the same question as me, why? Why, should I be using this app which only really changes the way I can enter and load up my documents. What’s the point? Well, for a few reasons.

First of all, aesthetics. Personally, I need beauty on my computer and everything which is ugly or annoying will be removed. An app like 7stacks will allow me to customize my desktop for my own liking. Choice is something which is really important for me and I’m sure the same can be said for many of you.

Simplicity and ease too. The whole process that 7stacks provides a service which can make anyone’s life easier. By using this app you save the hassle of searching through the typical Windows folders – which in my opinion can be a pain at times. Apps aim to make our lives easier and this one definitely fits the bill.

The Future!

7stacks has already had constant updates, ensuring a bright future for the application. It seems as if the app has a strong team behind it, hopefully with more to come. I’m sure that 7stacks will keep advancing on and improving the whole experience. As well as making your folders look better!

Wrapping Up

In conclusion, 7stacks is a perfect little utility for a Windows PC. Its simple concept allows users to make a basic action even easier. Personally, I think this app is great. I’m always looking for new ways to change my UI and make it more appealing. Being an XP user on one PC means that I’m not ultimately pleased with the look of my desktop. Little tricks like this really help people who need a bit of change in their lives. And it’s proven that making your UI look at bit different can even increase general productivity.

Is 7stacks worth a download? For sure. I know that for a lot of people this app will seem pointless and unnecessary. But I would recommend downloading just for a try! Thanks For reading! Let us know what you think about 7stacks below!

Summary

7stacks is an app which changes the way you view and use your Windows folders to appear similar to Mac OSX layout!
