There are countless threats that face computer users these days, including viruses, malware and hackers. To help you to combat such issues, there are a wide range of antimalware and security tools available.
But Returnil System Safe enables you to take your security to the next level, and it works in quite an interesting way – it create a virtualized clone of your system to prevent any damage from being done.
How Does System Safe Help You
This means that you have a complete isolated version of Windows to work with and there is no need to worry about what happens to it. The virtualized environment means that any changes that are made to your system – whether it comes as a result of a malware infection or a user’s actions – can be wiped out the next time you turn on your computer so everything stays exactly as you have configured it.
As well as being a useful security tool, this program provides you with an interesting way to try out new software and system settings without having to worry about whether they will cause damage to your system or not. If you don’t like the software or changes, all you need to do is to restart your computer and everything will return to normal.
Installation and Getting Started
Pay a visit to the Returnil System Safe page and click the green Download button. Don’t be concerned about the fact that you’ll see prices listed on the page as the program is available free of charge for home users.
You’ll then be taken to the download page where you can choose from one of the link to the right and once the download is complete, you can run through the installation – just use all of the default settings. If prompted to do so, restart your computer and Returnil System Safe will start automatically; otherwise you can use the Start menu shortcut.
The next thing to do is to complete the registration process – this is free of charge, and ensure that you have access to more of the features the program has to offer. Double click the system tray icon and then click the Status link to the left of the program window. Now click the product registration link to the right, select the Free version option and enter your name and email address before clicking Register.
There will be a slight pause while registration takes place, but you’re then ready to get started with the program.
Before you start using Returnil System Safe, it is important to carry out a few steps. Firstly, you should ensure that you have installed all of the software you need and that Windows and your applications have been configured to your liking.
You should also ensure that your computer is free from viruses and malware and this can be done from within the program itself. Click the Home link to the left followed by Home and then click the Start Scan button in the right hand pane. In the popup that appears, click Files from all users on this computer followed by Start Scan. Assuming your system is found to be free from infection, you’re ready to continue.
To enable the protection offered by the program, click the Virtual Mode link to the left. To the right, hit the Start Virtual Mode button and you can then continue to use the computer for whatever you want. You can choose to have Virtual Mode enabled every time Windows starts by ticking the relevant box.
Configure a Virtual Drive
The point of Returnil System Safe is that any changes that are made to your system, including any files that have been create or edited, will be wiped out when you restart Windows and the saved state of your machine is restored.
It is likely that you will want to still be able to save files, and this can be done by setting up a virtual drive – the paid-for version of the program enables you to specify folders that can be written to in the normal way, but virtual drives are a good compromise.
Click the Tools link in the Virtual Mode section to the left and then move to the Virtual Disk tab. Click the create link.
Choose where the virtual disk should be created and how it should be formatted and then click OK; the disk will then be created and formatted for you. To ensure that the disk is always available, tick the box labelled Mount when I start Windows.
This new virtual drive will be displayed in Explorer just like any other drive whenever Virtual Mode is enabled, and you can safe files to this drive if you would like to retain them. Any file that you save to your C: drive will be lost when you restart Windows.
The approach that Returnil System Safe takes to system security is quite extreme, but it is a pretty foolproof way of ensuring that no unwanted changes are made to your computer.
In addition to offering almost flawless protection against malware, you could also use the program to let children have free rein to use your computer without fear that they will ruin anything. If you have any other ideas about how the software could be used, let us know in the comments below.
