    Everyone keeps saying it isn’t a flag, but now it looks more like a flag than ever. Specifically, the Swedish flag with white instead of yellow, or an inverse Finnish flag, or the top corner of the Greek flag.

    My answer is “It’s terrible and I don’t like it at all”.

      Agreed. It’s the Tech equivalent of the London Olympics logo – wrong no matter which way you look at it.

    Coming from a graphic designer, this logo is way too simple and lacks any kind of artistic ability. This thing probably took 3 steps: make a rectangle, select and delete two lines going from left to right and top to bottom, then just bring the two ends a bit closer together with the perspective tool. The windows 7 logo looks spectacular. I can’t believe they are ditching it for a distorted rectangle.

    it’s like a mesh of first and the last windows logos. The first one (windows 3.1 logo) Was really great.. this one is ugly as f$%$ck. Terrible.

    The new Logo reminds me of the bluescreen, due to the separation even four of it!

    I’m a graphic designer too and while MS probably do need to update the Logo to make it more in keeping with the ‘Metro’ design philosophy, this effort looks more like a first draft than anything else.
    I know the logo is a window, but it’s also supposed to be emulating the live tiles too. But they’re mostly square, not slightly rectangular (like the logo suggests). The perspective only exagerates this rectangular shape.
    In my own opinion if the starting point was a square with the white crossbars and then applied the perspective (not as severe) and it could be a lot easier on the eye.

    I like the idea, and I almost like the logo itself, but I wish the horizontal beam tapered out more towards the left. I can’t help seeing it as a trapezium with a cross drawn on top of it.

    It’s polarizing, and that might be a bad thing. But it doesn’t look too bad, and it looks like metro. I’m not sure I like the angle, but I think if it was flat, people might mistake it for like a “metro” button thing. (which I guess would be okay, since it really just shows the metro start screen anyway)

    But it’s good, I mean, it’s actually windows again, instead of a random colorful flag.
