Weekly Poll: Do You Use Dedicated Security Software?

Security is something that everyone should be concerned about. We don’t really want our financial or personal information out in the bad, bad world, do we?

To that effect, Windows ships with inbuilt security software as well as the option to download the free, and excellent, Microsoft Security Essentials. A lot of users I know eschew from these and tend to with other dedicated security software — antivirus, antimalware and firewalls amongst many others.

Personally, I really love MSE but seeing as I already have a pseudo-lifetime license for the excellent AVG security suite, I’m just going with it.

What about you? Are you content with what you have or do you use dedicated, third party security software? If so, which suite are you using? I want to hear about your experiences here.

So vote away and as always, we’d love to hear your thoughts – simply post a comment below!

I just use MSE – rather safe than sorry!

    I use Avast

I’ve removed viruses from many machines using AVG and/or McCafee. MSE is the only reliable AV software IMO.

All security software sucks. Some can identify threats, less can adequately prevent infection, and even less can remove the infection. MSE is great, but it has its failings just like any other solution. It’s better than running nothing, but just barely.
