Personally, I love the Windows Phone setup and everything that comes with it. They always seem to please and give me a worthy mobile experience. But, the system hasn’t really taken off as I assumed it would – which really disappointed me. I feel as if Microsoft hasn’t been given enough credit for something which is so powerful.
In this article I’m going to explain what I think of the system. As well as trying to urge you to change! Read on to find out more!
The Statistics
We all know Android and iOS are dominating the smartphone market. But, does anyone know how far Windows are actually behind? Well, it’s big. I’ve just found online the IDC Worldwide statistics for Q1 of 2012, and it was surprising in parts. As we assume, Android leads with 59% and Apple second with 23%. As you can see below though, Windows only controlled 2.3% of the market – a tiny amount.

Second last. Pretty bad for a system which is developed by the biggest PC OS maker in the world. Personally, I think this percentage should be much higher. Windows Phones really don’t get the credit they deserve. Ok, yes, Windows Phone brings nothing noticeably new to the market other than the Metro experience. However, because of the class and quality of these products you would assume that they would have sold better.
Reasons Why Its Great
I love Windows Phones. They’re brilliant and for this reason I would always choose them over an iPhone/Android device. Why though? First of all, they’re new and unique. Their exquisite design and beautiful interface are just spectacular in comparison to other OS’s without a doubt.
The design is sleek and stylish, especially on phones such as the Lumia 900. I’m going to highlight the Lumia again, pointing out they are manufactured by Nokia – a powerful and influential company over the last decade.

Nokia Lumia 900!
Coupled with the developing team of Windows we should be expecting great things to come. If anyone knows how to build a powerful force which is improved over time, it’s Microsoft. Another point I should bring up is that you can use your Windows Phone to open and edit office documents. So for those of us who use Microsoft Office on a regular basis a Windows Phone is really a must. When I first chose this OS that was one of the most beneficial factors!
Improvements To Come
I can try to say everything brilliant about the Windows Phones – but, they do have some dents and chinks in its armor. And it’s because of this that Windows doesn’t dominate a huge percentage of the market. Although, I really feel that improvement will come, and fast. As we probably all know Microsoft are focusing mainly on the Surface release at the moment and even though this isn’t a Windows Phone it will still help it greatly!

Lets Discover!
This new release will definitely bring in huge amounts of revenue, interest and support in the Windows Operating System. Hopefully, this in turn will encourage developers to invest in the Windows Phone. And in my opinion, if we look at the statistics a year from now, Windows’ total will be far higher.
A Big Fish In A Small Pond?
Windows, like every other operating system, aims to improve to become more successful and gain a higher revenue. Although, this system really excites me because of the change they have achieved within such a small space of time.
Typically, we know Windows for their PC operating system and that’s about it. But now, personally, I see them as a major force in the Smartphone world – a feat which in today’s society is hard. They have come from nowhere in this industry and become this power which is surely going to move from strength to strength.
Wrap Up
Windows Phones rule. I’ve used one for over a year now and I’ve never experienced any disappointment at all. Should you buy a Windows Phone? Well, you should consider it.
As you’ve seen from these statistics the OS really hasn’t taken off yet. Should you buy a Windows Phone in a year’s time? Definitely. By that time we should have seen developments beyond believe which will change the face of the system. We’ll really just have to wait and see!
