Finishing Portal 2 with no help and no cheating (and Portal 1 with internet guidance for one room that nearly sent me insane) felt epic. They are the best and (sadly) only modern PC games I have played. I have not tried any good first person shooter games and would love to get stuck into Modern Warfare 3 which I have heard heaps about and not played – please count me in the draw!

The most epic game story I ever had is probably related to Guild Wars. We were losing hard, my team I mean, we were doing some serious GvG, and we were getting owned.
So I decided to regroup with my guildmates, all Elementalists, and we started, out of nowhere, to spike every single one of them, in an incredible coordinated manouver which simply annhihilated their defenses. Our Warriors sprinted and stole their flag, and again, and again. They started panicking, their spikes dropped. We, as a team, kicked their asses.

As far as epicness goes, during the first month Rift launched, I managed to gain a very special achievement by accident- I was the first to tag (hit) and kill a major boss in an in game invasion! I got it purely by accident and received the achievement.

I know it’s sad, but hey. Made me feel great.

This happened while playing Age of Wonders; it’s an old game but I wont ever get tired of it…

So my party of five odd warriors (2 kobolds, an orc warlord, an almost dead human pikeman, and a severely injured Orc Leader) were on our way back to my home city after partaking in a direful and meaningless battle (I went in with three groups of 8 men each, came out with this pitiful team and a human city on the verge of uprisal) and we had to stop as our moves had been exhausted for the turn.
Well, it so happened that the Halfling Leader’s settlement was right outside my explored areas, and I’d walked right into what seemed to be an instant end to all my efforts.
The lil rascal of a hobbit had an unending horde of heroes, eagles, trolls etc. at his disposal: three parties of these heavily armed albeit whimsical group, unbeknownst to me were planning to creep up on my splendid city(a few hexagons down the road) guarded by nothing more than a meagre battering ram.
But they had hit jackpot, I saved them a turn by traipsing into their “camp”.
Thankfully, a few factors came to my rescue, I still had an unused global spell that I could use for this turn, and the halfling army too had spent all their move points, well except for the eagles, the featheed bastards had plenty of move pts to spare which they can use to spark the battle as long as their other groups were only one hex apart (I was in the middle surrounded by these three groups of menacing idiots.) The spell I had was “call hero” which summons a random hero to my vicinity whom I could coax to join me by means of payment; it required about 2-3 clicks, it was a race against time, I hoped the hero that turns up would be of favorable allignment.
It all happened quite fast, an undead hero showed up, accepted to join my team and no sooner had I clicked the button did the inevitable happen.
In the end, however, the hero merely served as a distraction as it was the warlord and my “hurl stones” ability that aided me in defeating the opponents.

The little things seem epic once you get into the vibe :}

Well here is my epic gaming story that might apply to all gamers as a university student
I was owning in Call of Duty: Black Ops scoring with 85 Kills and 4 Deaths( I still play it as I can’t afford to buy new games). It was the best moment of my gaming life, I was in a roll. The funny thing is that I was playing around 2:30am in the morning and my whole family were all asleep. I was playing with my mates and using a voice-audio program Ventrillo to talk with them. They heard how excited I was and suddenly……(heart beat)….my parent’s opened my room and they told me “what are you doing up so late” and I so I had to lie as it was a university night “I am doing my assignment and I was just excited that I am done with it now”. My dad didn’t believe me so he checked my TASKBAR and turned on my other screen if I was looking at x-rated films or skyping with a girl. But then he saw me gaming and told me to go to sleep. And the next day my uni mates were bagging me out

While this was all happening, all my friends could see my webcam and could hear my voice along with my parent’s voice. This was the most embarrassing moment in my life that my friends online had to see and hear what was going on. Yet I was happy that I was owning and was getting pro at COD Black Ops

So advice for every gamer if you are owning don’t make a loud noise or else your parents will check up on you. hahaha

I’m not very good at games.

There was the time I shot a national journalist in the bottom in Left 4 Dead. It cost him his last health point and lost us the game. At least I was featured quite prominently in the write-up.

And I’m colourblind. It’s virtually impossible for me to tell who is who in Bad Company 2. Once I spent an entire round delivering friendly fire to my chums. They were nice about it, though, and the next round had friendly fire turned off. So that was a result.

And my latest passion is Sengoku. It’s set in feudal Japan. My courtiers are all committing seppuku rather than endure another moment of my reign. My four wives have died of shame. I think my only chance of winning is if there’s a ‘least likely to become Shogun’ poll.

So, next time you’re playing a multiplayer shooter, take a look at the name at the bottom of the list, and say hello. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it

Well this happen in a Starcraft 2 LAN game:
Was running out of resources and the other guy had like two times my army, so being protoss I figure a risky move, I went to attack his base and then retreat… and let my dark templars do the job since he had little to no way of seeing covert units.
The result? He blasted my army to hell, but my bases defenses hold on, and his base was in ruins… and he sware to revenge, in another game.

Long time ago when I used to play halo 1, I had set the sensitivity higher than I normally had it. I was zoomed in with a sniper rifle, my friend pushed me to mess me up, which caused my thumb to get thrown to the side and I accidentally pushed the fire button. KILL! What?! I was zoomed in with nobody in sight, when he pushed me, it caused my view to fly to the right wildly and I accidentally fired the sniper rifle while my view was flying to the right, and it just so happened my cursor passed over an enemy at the exact time I accidentally fired. It was a total freak accident.

My epic tale is one of epic fail.

Getting to the end of Half Life 1 and fighting what seemed like a huge alien baby, I found myself completely out of ammo and with only 1 health point and no armor left. Oh yes, and my previous save game oversaved.
I took my crawbar, jumped around various platforms on top of the baby’s head, cracked its skull open and… fell off, ran into hiding and was never able to finish Half Life by a mere split second of bad luck (or bad gaming).

I always keep around 10 different save games since.

I remember back in the vanilla days of WoW doing Molten Core. It was back when users would experience server-wide lag. We were right in the middle of a boss encounter, Shazzrah, as I recall. We had him down to ~5% when the server was hit with a MASSIVE lag spike. Everyone in Vent started freaking out, and when it finally subsided, about 2-minutes later, every single person was dead (including the boss), with the exception of the main-tank. He had 7% health left. Phew!

FYI: If you didn’t know, Civilization 5 is a turn-based strategy, 4X computer game in which “the player leads a civilization from prehistoric times into the future on a procedurally-generated map, achieving one of a number of different victory conditions through research, diplomacy, expansion, economic development, government and military conquest.” -from wiki.

Anyway, my friend bought me a Civilization 5 a couple months ago and I loved it! I was so obsessed, I played every chance I got, and I have to say I got pretty good.. Strategy games are just so cool. So my friends Jon, Abel, and Jacob play it too. We did multiplayer online, just us 3 and a computer player set on the 2nd highest difficulty and made the computer Rome. Rom usually has a pretty good army and on that level, Rome was beasting through the years as one of the top leaders with me in 2nd, and my friends after that. Our goal was to settle around Rome and make allies with each other and take down Rome in EPIC proportions. We each made our militaries strong and huge (although Rome was just on another level that we couldn’t reach). We waited until year 2011 (so it would have a military that was up to date and would obviously be cooler than watching them shoot arrows at each other.) and I declared war. Since my friends were my allies, it automatically made them declare war also. For some reason Rom was trying to take down Abel (France) so whilst Rome was focused mainly on one empire while using minimal military on the rest of us, we flanked Rome and took over 4 (we each took one over but Jon took 2) out of it’s 5 cities and forced it to give up and we completed our objective. The rest of the game is still going and now we are going against each other. It’s going fairly well and it’s my first time doing this with my friends so it should be interesting.

Now I’d like to branch out and try other games ( I’ve heard fantastic rumors about Skyrim) but with my income and college bills, I can hardly afford it. Please pick me and the epicness will continue!

My tale of epicness would have to be my impreessive levels back in the days of Halo 2. I was I ShaDy X I (since then changed my gamer tag multiple times) and was on the top 5 of the leaderboards (when they existed) for Skrimish and Big Team Battle. By the time Halo 2 was done (before the reset before they killed it off) my ranks were Rumble Pit – 31, Skrimish – 38, Big Team Battle – 38, Slayer – 44, Snipers – 41, and Double Team – 40.

My most memorable gaming moments were trying to play all of the “violent” games (SNES/N64 era mostly), with my older sister and younger brother. We played games like Mortal Kombat, Turok, South Park, etc. and were terrified that our parents would walk in one day and catch us.

Eventually as time went on, we started playing the more mature games quite regularly not even thinking about the content. My parents were around once when we were all reminiscing about those “violent” games in our early days, and to our surprise they told us they didn’t really care about what video games we played as kids. They told us they always felt we were old enough and smart enough to know what’s real, and what’s not, so they decided to leave it up to us.

What a great sigh of relief we all felt… even if that bit of information was many many many years overdue.

While playing TF2, using the Dead Ringer and YER, I got 7 backstabs in a row. Everyone was pushing the cart- I walked in, stabbed everyone, and walked right out.

So I was playing DotA 2 the other day and got exteremly mad about others telling me what to do (happens pretty often). So I basically lost control over my hero and smashed my keyboard. Among other things it also minimized my game but when I opened the window again I noticed that I had pulled off a double kill and almost killed the third one.

Epicness? Oh, many times. One to mention is since beta of Bad Company 2 (Battlefield of course) – it was epic to make accurate impact on tank using Mortar or learning how to snipe again.

But the most epic times were when I was learning how to play Quake 3, I’d say. Learn how to strafe, predict rockets, etc…

Another epic moment – when Max Payne came out or rather when I played it for the 1st time… Man, amazing…

Just found this site, and hope I win Skyrim or MW3. Portal 2 looks interesting not sure if I would like it. My favorite game is Halo1 CE for PC I like the Maps I get its mod-ability and I am a bit miffed Microsoft didn’t release the anniversary edition of Halo for PC. Ralph and I can thrash opponents Ralph is 61 and our opponents swear he is using a bot but its all him nasty bugger he is, shows no mercy I swear they have tantrums he pisses them off so bad. hell I won’t play against him my handle was Ralph’s Rabbit

Here goes with something that happened. Playing BF2 with a friend in my squad. Was flying around in Wake Island 2007, being chased in a dog fight and was hurting so bad I decided to abandon ship. My friend was close enough behind but far enough to not be seen by my chaser. Over Teamspeak he tells me to take the plane and immediately ejects. I manage to hop into his plane and proceed to fight the guy that shot my plane and kill him. None of this was rehearsed and I don’t think having a child will come near as close as the excitement I felt pulling that off. Not many folks believe us that we did it but it was amazing.

Have a good few stories from even more games but that was the highlight of my gaming life to date.

Command and Conquer,

It gave me happy times and sad times.
Mostly played it on LAN games with friends, and we were all skilled at about the same level.
Thats what we really needed to keep fun in this game, and be sending armies at eachother for sometimes even 1 hour.

We even managed to play a game ( non waiting game ) for two hours once, worst side of it was we both had a plan on killing eachother with the next strike, we probably would have died both, or close to it.

———- For 1 mili second all lights went out in the house! we were RAGING and hoping our PC’s wouldnt shut down.. and they didn’t!

As happy as we were, we continued our game and threw all we had at eachother..

———- For 1 mili second we had lagg,, And again we raged and hoped nothing would happen and we could continue our game.

To bad, it was an serious error, and as seriously hurt we were, we went to bed at 00:00..
