Weekly Poll

Each OS, regardless of whether it powers a mobile, desktop or tablet device, has its own distinct personality that people relate it with. iOS and Android have the grid of icons going for them while Aero is the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions Windows 7.

This week I have a really simple question for you — do you like the Metro interface concept that powers Windows Phone 7 as well as the upcoming Windows 8?

Personally, I love Metro. It felt incredibly fresh when it was released and feels just as fresh now — specially compared to the now long in the tooth iOS. Live tiles are a clean way to communicate with the user without cluttering up the interface and the typography dominated interface has been a pleasure to work with.

So how do you feel about Metro? As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts – simply post a comment below!

I was around 12 when I got my first ‘proper’ computer. It was a blazing fast Pentium 3 with a ginormous 128mb of memory, a standalone graphics accelerator and a 40gb hard drive. It came with a shiny copy of Windows 98 with a snazzy new mediaplayer called Winamp and this really funny game called Road Rash pre-installed. Thus began my love affair with Windows, gaming and computing, in general.

Today, I’d like to know which was the first Windows operating system you’ve used. I don’t care if it was the infamous Me or the hugely popular XP. I’d love to know what AppStorm readers started with and how. This is where your spark for computers started, after all!

If you have a great suggestion for a weekly poll then comment below and I’ll give the best ones a shot.

We’re kicking off a new weekly poll today, getting our readers opinion on a different topic each week. Hopefully this will give us all a chance to talk about a relevant issue, share our thoughts, and generally have a chat in the comments!

With Windows 8 slated for release later this year and a developer preview already available, I think a lot of us have played around with Redmond’s revolutionary new OS. Today, I’d like to know which aspect of it you’re looking forward to the most.

Personally, I almost chose Metro but as a Windows Phone user, it’s already old news to me. The feature on my list definitely has to be Windows To Go.

A bootable USB Flash drive with Windows 8 in it, including my programs, settings, and files? Yes, a thousand times yes!

Of course, I picked only the features that have high visibility so I’ve let you, the reader, enter your own little feature as well. Let us know – and do share your thoughts in the comments!
