Weekly Poll: Which Game Are You Looking Forward to the Most This E3

E3 has always been a big deal to me — it’s where a lot of big names show off their quality titles. I hope to go there one day but till then, I’m going to have to be satisfied with watching live streams.

This year there are a ridiculous number of games scheduled to be on show. Shooters, role playing games, brawlers, platformers and everything else under the sun.

Personally, I’m really stoked about seeing more of Halo 4. As many times I’ve been asked to finish the fight, I can’t help but go back in every time. I’m just that invested in the Halo franchise!

Which game are you looking forward to the most? I’ve added some AAA titles off the top of my head so feel free to add any that I’m missing.

The Aero visual style has been with for almost six years now and I think it’s safe to say it’s been a love or hate affair. Now with the advent of Windows 8, Microsoft has moved away from the shiny, transulucent affairs that’s Aero glass and is going with a more Metro-ish visual style. If you’re curious, you can read more about it here.

All things considered, how do you feel about this transition? Do you think Aero was fine as it is and shouldn’t have been banished into oblivion? Or do you maybe feel that Metro is the way forward?

Security is something that everyone should be concerned about. We don’t really want our financial or personal information out in the bad, bad world, do we?

To that effect, Windows ships with inbuilt security software as well as the option to download the free, and excellent, Microsoft Security Essentials. A lot of users I know eschew from these and tend to with other dedicated security software — antivirus, antimalware and firewalls amongst many others.

Personally, I really love MSE but seeing as I already have a pseudo-lifetime license for the excellent AVG security suite, I’m just going with it.

What about you? Are you content with what you have or do you use dedicated, third party security software? If so, which suite are you using? I want to hear about your experiences here.

As a power user, I like experimenting around and being on the cutting edge. To that effect, I effectively triple boot my workstation. Windows 7, Snow Leopard and Linux Mint. Yes, I’m a bad ass guy that way! It gets me the best of all worlds, which is what I’m usually after.

What about you? Do you multi, or dual, boot other OS’. Any specific reason you work with multiple operating systems? What pitfalls or annoyances have you faced on the way? Driver issues? kext shenanigans? I’d love to hear your stories.

With all the hype around the iPad, it’s easy to forget that Windows tablets are on the horizon. The question is, “Will it really make a dent?”

I personally have an iPad 3. Or the iPad HD. Or whatever it’s called. I really do love the device — the overall hardware is spectacular — but I can’t help but feel limited with iOS 5. Give me Windows 8 on a well built tablet and I’d gladly trade in my laptop and my iPad.

But do you feel the same way as well? Can full fledged Windows tablets and iPad co-exist? Is a full fledged computing experience on a tablet really hard to pull off?

Early adopters make or break a platform since they tend to be very vocal about their likes or dislikes. I’m one of those pesky early adopters — I like to be on the cutting edge, specially if it’s prone to make my productivity go bye-bye.

I installed the consumer preview of Windows 8 within the first week and I waited so long only because my spare machine was out of commission. Obviously, not everyone get on board a new platform so quickly.

Today, I’d like to know how long you usually wait before jumping to a new version. A week, a few months, a year maybe? I personally know people who wait till the first service pack, just to be sure. What usually stops you from upgrading and how soon do you plan to switch to Windows 8?

It’s well known that I’m the resident gamer here on AppStorm. I tend to really lose myself in a game’s universe and this week, it’s been Mass Effect 3 that has gotten the bulk of my attention.

I’m around ten hours into the campaign and I think I’ve finished maybe 15-20% of the main quest. I’ve been running around looking for artifacts, chatting up people — basically ignoring the main quest and it’s been a ton of fun. I think it’s fair to say that Mass Effect 3 is this year’s first legitimate game of the year contender.

This week, I’d like to gauge the strength of AppStorm’s gamer demographic. Are you playing Mass Effect 3? If yes, I’d love to hear what you think of the game.

New OSs are always a cause for great excitement, fanboy wars and overall drama. Now that the consumer preview build of Windows 8 has been made available, the internet is overflowing with chatter about the spiffy new OS.

Today, I have a super simply question for you: do you plan to try out the consumer preview build of Windows 8? If not, I’d love to know why!

As the resident gamer on the Envato network, I tend to play a lot of games. Not just in number but also in time spent.

For example, my Steam profile will show that I’ve spent over 1850 hours in just Team Fortress 2 over the past few years! Yes, I know it’s a lot but before you start judging, keep in mind that this is over four and a half years.

Today, I’d like to know how much time you’ve spent on your favorite game. I know the answer is going to be skewed towards online FPSs and MMORPGs but I’d still like to see how much everyone else is playing. I personally know a guy who spent about 400 hours on Skyrim so I’m very prepared for surprises!
